Radiohead Drummer Tech Dies in Stage Collapse

After a horrifying accident causing a massive section of ironwork to collapse on the stage at Toronto's Downsview Park, Radiohead’s drummer tech, Scott Johnson, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three others were injured from the collapse that occurred before the show on Saturday evening (June 16). Two of the injured were treated and released with minor injuries; the third sustained a serious, but not life-threatening injury to his head.

Radiohead’s only comment thus far was through the band’s Twitter account, which said, “Due to unforeseen circumstances tonight's at downsview park tonight has been cancelled. Fans are advised not to make their way to the venue."

According to a beer tent worker Oana Damian, “Everything went quiet for a few seconds and then people started jumping over the tables, running towards the stage.”

Approximately 40,000 fans were expected to attend the show, which is the first Radiohead tour to hit the Canadian city since 2008.

Beer vendor Jeff Cole said, "It's very, very fortunate that the gates weren't open, because it would have been pandemonium."
